Now, on to this week's newsletter...
The Anti-Burnout Content Engine: How to Build Visibility Without Becoming a Full-Time Creator
Ok, ok, ok, 2026 is for real the year you realize you can no longer afford not to have a personal brand.
You see the stats:
Over one-third (34%) of recruiters said being a thought leader increases the salary employers are willing to offer by up to 10%
In Hinge Research’s Visible Value study, buyers were willing to pay $239.81/hr vs. $100/hr for a Level 1 “Visible Expert” (about 2.4× baseline), and up to $1,356.82/hr for a Level 5 (about 13× baseline). (Hinge Marketing)
Edelman/LinkedIn found 60% of decision-makers agree they’re more willing to pay a premium to work with an organization or individual that produces thought leadership vs. one that doesn’t.
You know that building your online visibility not only generates more leads but also commands higher prices—whether you’re job hunting or running your own business.
Quick note: this is for the expert who wants leads and leverage—not LinkedIn fame.
So, your mind is made up, and you’re ready to begin. You start to prepare your checklist based on guru advice, and it ends up looking like this:

For more tee hee’s, follow Jillian. She’s one of my fav rising LinkedIn creators.
Jillian’s status points to the collective sigh we all feel reading viral LinkedIn creators’ playbooks on LinkedIn, the overarching question after reading being this…
With what time?!?!
Because you are not setting out to be a full-time “creator” or to be “LinkedIn famous.” You simply want this reliable output from a visible personal brand:
More high-quality leads
Higher pricing
Working fewer hours to make more money
So, let’s strip it down to brass tacks—real-world version.
And yes, I’m going to give you the simplest system I know that takes about 90 minutes/week to create and about 20 minutes/day to connect.
Step One: Create long-form content
Here’s the inescapable truth about long-form content. First, amongst all other content types that took a nose-dive in reach on LinkedIn, long-form articles increased 47%. Second, it’s still an uneven market, meaning there are more readers looking for rich, substantive content (why do you think Substack is on the rise) vs. professionals creating it on LinkedIn. In this way, market share is easy to grab.
But let’s set aside those stats. The reason I train all of my students and clients to start with long-form is because it’s the most effective way to create a content system.
A powerful content system is one that:
Addresses your buyers’ needs and helps them install actionable fixes
Keeps you top of mind in their feed
That’s pretty much it. People overcomplicate it. You really don’t need to.
So if you want to hit the minimum criteria for component number two—being top of mind in your buyers’ feed—you need to publish a minimum of 3x a week. And even that may be light given today’s inundation of content.
So, if you don’t have long-form anchoring you every week, you need to think of 3 fresh new angles to solve your buyers’ problems with actionable tips… or 156 angles annually.
But if one of your pieces of content is long-form and the other two are repurposed posts based on long-form, you now only need to think of 1 angle a week and dive into it.
One newsletter + two posts = 3 touches/week.
This also helps you stay on message, which is key to creating repetition of message for your prospects to remember you.
The purchase perspective (the part people miss)
Here’s the part people miss: from a purchase perspective, everything hinges on two things.
Do you actually understand your buyers’ real problems—what’s urgent, what’s expensive, what they’re trying to avoid, what they’re embarrassed about, what they’ve already tried?
Are you packaging your insight in a format that creates action—clear problem, clear fix, clear next step?
Because content doesn’t create sales when it’s “smart.”
It creates sales when it’s useful to the buyer’s decision.
And long-form is the easiest way to do that consistently. You can go deep enough to:
name the real problem,
install an actionable fix, and
say it in language that makes a buyer think, “Finally—someone gets it.”
If you’re reading that and thinking, “Okay, but I’m not sure I’m nailing the buyer-problem part… and I definitely don’t want to waste months posting the wrong angles,” that’s exactly what Brand Inner Circle is for.
It’s a gated community where you get expert help translating your expertise into buyer-language, plus a real weekly plan you can stick to—so your long-form isn’t just “content,” it’s content that incites purchase activity. (And because it’s hands-on, I only bring in 2 new BIC members each month.)
Back to the system…
Time in:
Weekly: 90 min (craft all your weekly content, schedule it, and anchor it in your buyers’ needs)
Step Two: Set aside time to connect with prospects
Every day, I set aside 10 minutes to add my ideal buyers to my network. Yes, I still do this even with over 45,000 followers, because the truth is, I don’t control who follows me. Maybe they are my ideal buyer, maybe they aren’t.
But I can control who I add to my connection list, and that means I reverse engineer my audience to be who I want it to be—not who LinkedIn’s algorithm just happens to deliver to me.
This can be done fairly simply with “saved people searches.” I just go to the search bar, filter to the criteria I want, and bookmark the page on my browser to come back to every day.
Time in:
Daily: 10 min
Step Three: Get active in the DMs
I’m a mere mortal, so if I can do 5–10 very thoughtful ones of these each day, I consider myself an A+ student, but honestly, if I hit 5–10 a week, I’ll give myself a solid B.
That’s because direct LinkedIn messages, when deployed effectively, should be actual conversations. Not spam. And meaningful conversations take time.
To avoid reinventing the wheel, click on the image to see six incredibly thoughtful ways Richard van der Blom outlines for doing this in a genuine way that will actually elicit a response.

Time in:
Weekly: 1 hour if done thoughtfully — divide up as you see fit (one chunk or 5, 10-minute blocks daily)
Step Four: Set aside commenting time
Social media is a 2-way street.
Yes, you’ve heard every influencer say how important commenting is for “the algorithm,” but you need to remember that at the end of the day, it’s just good ole’ relationship building.
Every time someone publishes a piece on LinkedIn, even if they are “big time,” they are stepping outside of their comfort zone and putting themselves out there. When you actually take the time to acknowledge their post, it’s good ju-ju and WILL open doors.
This means you can’t be lazy. No “great posts” or “AI summaries.” Just respond like an actual human:
Add an anecdote of how the theme of their post shows up in your day
Ask a thoughtful question about the post, or ask for their viewpoint on something related
And yes, respectfully counter the post if you feel that way. Respectfully being the key word there. Remember, everyone sees your activity, and trollin’ ain’t cute for you.
Your buckets for this should be:
7 peers
7 bigger creators in your space (this is relative. A “big creator” in some industries may have 10k followers)
7 prospects
To make this effortless, find those 21 people and “double-ring their bell” (aka turn on notifications).

Once you do that, you don’t have to go hunting for content on the algorithm—you’ll get a handy notice every time they publish, saving you oodles of time.
Time in:
Daily: 10 min
If you want the exact schedule
Weekly big rocks
90 minutes/week: create + schedule your content (1 long-form + 2 repurposed posts)
60 minutes/week: thoughtful DMs (either one block or split into 10–15 minutes/day)
Daily minimums (Mon–Fri)
10 minutes/day: add ideal buyers (saved search)
10 minutes/day: comment (use your 3 buckets: peers, bigger creators, prospects)
A simple Monday–Friday plan
Monday
10 min: add ideal buyers
10 min: comment
15 min: DM block (2 thoughtful messages)
Tuesday
10 min: add ideal buyers
10 min: comment
15 min: DM block (2 thoughtful messages)
Wednesday
10 min: add ideal buyers
10 min: comment
15 min: DM block (2 thoughtful messages)
Thursday
10 min: add ideal buyers
10 min: comment
15 min: DM block (2 thoughtful messages)
Friday
10 min: add ideal buyers
10 min: comment
15 min: DM block (2 thoughtful messages)
Total time:
Content: 90 min/week
Network + comments: 20 min/day
DMs: ~60–75 min/week
TL;DR
You don’t need to become a full-time creator. You need a system.
The anti-burnout content engine looks like this:
Write 1 long-form piece/week, so you stop reinventing the wheel and stay on-message.
Repurpose it into 2 posts, so you hit 3 touches/week without living on LinkedIn.
Spend 10 minutes/day adding ideal buyers so your network becomes who you want it to be.
Do thoughtful DMs weekly because conversations beat spam, and sales come from dialogue.
Comment 10 minutes/day because relationship-building opens doors (and yes, it helps your reach too).
And here’s the “purchase” truth: content converts when it’s built around your buyers’ real problems and delivered in a format that makes action easy.
If you want help translating your expertise into buyer-language (and turning it into a repeatable weekly plan you can actually follow), that’s what Brand Inner Circle is for. It’s gated and hands-on, and I only accept 2 new members each month—so if you want one of those spots, apply here:
